Second Graders!

Have you heard about this Book Club at Underhill School?

The “Small and Tall ~ Reading Together” Book Club is open to any second grade student (small) and their designated adult (tall) for participation.  This Book Club will read a selected book over the course of a few weeks, and come together once a month for refreshments and discussion. Facilitators will be Mrs. Landsman (Library Media Specialist) and Mrs. Noboa (Second Grade Teacher) with occasional guest facilitators.
Would you like to be part of this program?  It’s easy!
WHERE?  The Underhill School Library Media Center
WHO?  Any second grader and his/her adult of choice, but we will limit the group to the first 15 registrations (each pair of Small/Tall counts as one registration).

HOW? Fill out the form when it comes home each month to register for the next Book Club Discussion Date.  We will send the book home with your child for the two of you to read together. You can read it aloud, take turns reading pages or chapters, or read independently then discuss what you’ve read - as long as you’ve shared the reading experience!
WHEN? We will meet to discuss the book from 6:00-7:00 p.m. on the announced date for that month.  Plan to bring a snack related to the story to share with everyone.  You can also bring an object or quote from the story to help our discussion.
WHY? The program objectives are to encourage frequent reading in the home, to promote reading and conversation about books in families, to forge a stronger school to family bond, and to encourage literate practices in the community.
QUESTIONS?  Feel free to contact me at klandsman@sau15.net or call the school at 623-7233
